Instructor Info

Let me introduce myself. My name is Kristen Epps and I am a fifth year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Kansas. You’ve found your way to my course website for HIST348: The Peoples of Kansas. This site serves as a storehouse of knowledge for students in these courses, including links to my syllabus and online readings, posts about “history in the news,” and any other history-related topics that strike my fancy.

My research interests include society in antebellum America, focusing particularly on slavery, abolition, and Bleeding Kansas (though I still have a soft spot in my heart for colonial history). In addition to my experience as a TA and as an instructor, I have had the opportunity to work at the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture as an editorial assistant, and as a project archivist for the Territorial Kansas Online project and the Kansas Memory project, both created by the Kansas State Historical Society.

I can be contacted at kkeppsATkuDOTedu.
